The Central Church of Christ, and a home provided for the minister, were built on land donated by Brother and Sister James Lester and Wilma Breeden. The congregation held its first worship service on November 21, 1962. Throughout the years, Central has been under the leadership of several capable men serving in the office of elder. These men include Brothers W. D. Baker, James Lester Breeden, Ryman Burgess, Carlton Petty, Hubert Petty, Ewing von Schmittou, John Douthitt, Don Foster, and Don Richardson. The men currently serving as elders at Central are Brothers Donnie Allen, Jimmy Breeden, Carl Pettes, and Andy Pernell.
Many men have worked as full time ministers under the guidance of the elders at Central. The ministers that have worked with the Central congregation are: Brothers Olin Kerns, Edward Bragwell, E.C. Gilbert, Thomas Hogland, Jim Caplinger, David Holder, Frank Walton, Ralph Eldridge, Roy Fenner, Troy Nicholson, Michael Richardson, Justin Dobbs, and Rufus Clifford III.
In May of 2012, Central Church of Christ welcomed a majority of members from the Pleasant View Church of Christ located in White Bluff, Tennessee. Pleasant View closed its doors due to structural damage to the building. This welcomed addition has greatly increased the membership at Central and has enhanced the talents and abilities within the congregation.
The Central Church of Christ has always stood for truth and righteousness and as the congregation has changed throughout the years, the focus of serving God and spreading the gospel has remained.
